Vehicles of the Local Police and Civil Protection of the City Council of Cartagena have begun to announce by public address to residents of the area of Los Nietos and Los Urrutias, the forecast of heavy rains in the coming hours, while recommending the eviction of those homes with flood risk.
The measure has been adopted on a preventive basis, given that the most intense rainfall is expected after 12 pm and it would be very difficult to evacuate it.
Municipal officials and volunteers point out in their notices that if they do not have an alternative home they can go to the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente de Los Nietos school or to the Los Urrutias social center, where there is already a staff of the Department of Services Social to assist them.
The measure is expected to extend in the next hours to the Bahía Bella urbanization, at the mouth of the Rambla de El Albujón and the Camping Caravaning Villas.
In these cases, those affected who cannot be accommodated in other homes of relatives or acquaintances will be referred to the Los Alcázares High Performance Center and hotel establishments in La Manga del Mar Menor.
This afternoon it is planned that the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, will preside over a new meeting of the crisis cabinet of the municipal departments and services involved in the operation, where new measures could be taken.
