On Friday, November 29, the Cartagena Urban Camp (CUC) project carried out by the member entities of the Don Bosco Youth Federation of the Region of Murcia and linked to Salesianos Cartagena, celebrated its V anniversary.
The event was carried out by the thanks to the people and entities that have collaborated in the project, organized in collaboration with the Department of Social Services of the City Council of Cartagena, especially with the family programs of the two social services centers of the city.
The vice mayor and mayor of the Social Welfare Area, Noelia Arroyo, did not want to miss this already consolidated event, thanking the work of the members of the federation.
"Here there has been entertainment for kids who have no alternative for leisure in the summer," he said during his speech at the event, "it has offered game and friendship and, while doing all that, you have taught respect for the environment, you have taught respect to others and, above all, you have taught respect for yourself. ”
In the form of a Commission for Social Inclusion, the Cartagena Urban Camp promotes networking among all people and groups in the Salesian sphere with children and young people at greater risk of social exclusion.
It thus offers an educational alternative at leisure, especially in the summer season, to children between 6 and 13 years of age from a medium-low socioeconomic level.
From the educational experience, it is constituted in a small social volunteer school, with the participation of more than 30 young volunteers and they live with children with situations of special need.
