This Sunday, December 1, the Cartagonova Musical Union will offer its traditional concert in honor of Santa Cecilia, patron saint of musicians.
It will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the El Batel Municipal Auditorium in Cartagena.
This year, the presenter will be the historian, documentary filmmaker and official chronicler of the city Luis Miguel Pérez Adán.
On behalf of the Municipal Government, the Councilor for the Area of ​​Culture, David Martínez, and the second deputy mayor of Cartagena, Manuel Padín, will attend.
The solemn Fanfarria Alpina by Franco Cesarini (1961-) will serve as an overture and presentation of the new musicians who join the band.
Afterwards, the concert for Oboe of the Venetian Alessandro Marcello (1689-1747) will be heard, ending the first part with one of the works that marked a before and after in the repertoire of the music bands, Poem of Fire, by Ida Gotkovsky (1933-).
After the break and thinking about the youngest ones, a selection of the music that the Japanese composer Koji Kondo (1961-) has created for the Super Mario Bros videogames will sound. Then the Student Choir of the School of Music will perform performing the teaching composition Caracol Mifasol by Ferrer Ferrán (1966-) and Chiquitita by Benny Andersson (1945-).
The trumpet string will then be the protagonist in this concert, playing Trumpet Blues by Harry James (1916-1989) and Hunchainet Melody by Alex Nort (1910-1991), soundtrack of the movie Ghost.
The concert will end with Spanish music, Palindromía Flamenca, a fantasy for saxophone, guitar and flamenco box by composer Antonio Ruda (1938-) and the Gran Jota of the Opera La Dolores by Tomás Bretón (1859-1923).
Tickets for this concert are on sale for 10 euros on the website of El Batel, at the box office of the Municipal Auditorium and at the headquarters of the Musical Union Cartagonova, located at Alfonso X El Sabio street, 9 in Cartagena.
