The Network of Chairs of the UPCT will reward the best works of end of studies with 12,000 euros (28/11/2019)

The Movility of the Future, SMARTCP and Apicultura 4.0 were recognized as best projects in the second edition of the CaixaBank Solver Community awards

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has celebrated today the 'Conference Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Network of Chairs' in which the best projects of the CaixaBank Solver and Telefónica Open Future Awards have been recognized, two initiatives of technological entrepreneurship promoted by the Vice-Rectorate of Innovation and Company.

The Network of Chairs of the UPCT already has the support of 45 companies and institutions linked to the productive fabric of the Region of Murcia, according to Alejandro Pérez Pastor, Vice Chancellor of Innovation and Business of the university, which has among its strategic lines to promote innovation and technology transfer through creativity and talent management.

In addition, the UPCT has announced that the next call for the awards for the end of studies of the Network of Chairs, exclusively for its students, will have cash prizes for a total amount exceeding 12,000 euros.

These prizes, which will be presented at the next Campus 2020 Chair of the UPCT, will recognize the best End of Degree or Master's Projects in the topics of interest of the companies of the network, thus promoting open innovation and the training of students in the most strategic areas for them.

The 'Conference Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Network of Chairs' gathered at the Faculty of Business Sciences about 150 attendees, including UPCT researchers, Fellows of the Network of Chairs, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and representatives of public administrations related to innovation, business development and employment.

The event was also attended by Diego Rodríguez, Director of the Institute for the Promotion of the Region of Murcia, and the general directors of the Autonomous Community María Isabel Fortea, (Research and Scientific Innovation), Josefa García León (Universities) and María José Ros Olivo ( Business Innovation and Self Defense and SME).

The program of the day has included the delivery of the CaixaBank Solver Community awards, which this year has celebrated its second edition with a total of 50 participants spread over 32 projects.

The Solver community was born as a meeting point where students, teachers, researchers and administration and services staff can develop their ideas in a creative environment with the aim of supporting ideas and building alliances to boost UPCT talent.

The winners in this second edition were the project 'The Movility of the Future (MUF)', formed by the students José David Trapero, Juan Antonio Ayala, Taras Nykyforchyn and José Antonio Jiménez, as well as for the researchers Juan Suardíaz, José Alfonso Vera and Pedro Díaz for his 'SMARTCP' project.

Given the quality of the proposals received, the jury awarded an additional prize for 'Apicultura 4.0', by Karim Belhaki.

The second and third place in the second place were for 'Cookinnova' by María Rosa Mena and for 'Update your House' by Raúl Pérez.

The € 3,000 in prizes were funded by the Social Work of La Caixa and were divided between the three categories.

The prize of the Telefónica Murcia Open Future initiative has also been awarded to the startup Proyingel, for its work in the implementation and development of industry 4.0 in companies.

Murcia Open Future is the technological entrepreneurship initiative promoted by Telefónica, the Institute of Development of the Region of Murcia, the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

The activity of Murcia Open Future has been developed since January 2019 in the Carthago Hub, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship space of Cartagena that encourages and drives the maturation of entrepreneurial projects through open innovation, based in the Laboratory Building of Research (ELDI) of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

The day began with the presentation on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship by Guillermo Robles, Head of Nido Robotics Plant, a company specialized in the development of underwater robotics.

Subsequently, he has continued with a creativity workshop aboard a catamaran boosted by Fabián García (EIT Digital) and with the presentation of new projects by entrepreneurs and fellows of the UPCT Chair Network.
