The head of the regional Executive, Fernando López Miras, showed today "the total willingness of the regional government to collaborate in the economic development of the region of Cartagena," explained the Minister of Enterprise, Industry and Portavocía, Ana Martínez Vidal, after the meeting maintained with the president of the Confederation of Organizations of Cartagena (COEC), Ana Correa.
Among the priority issues addressed during their meeting, the counselor highlighted the recovery of the Mar Menor, the arrival of High Speed and the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL).
Regarding the latter, Martínez Vidal announced that "we will convene the Bureau of the ZAL before the end of the year" and remarked that "the regional government has taken another step and the transfer of the frank deposit is already in the process of being a reality".
"It is essential that this project be developed jointly with the Mediterranean Corridor and with a container terminal, since, without them, the ZAL would not make sense, but would function as an island," he said.
Regarding the arrival at High Speed in Cartagena, he stressed that "the ministry has not yet clarified the terms of this infrastructure";
and, with regard to the Mar Menor, he stressed that "the regional government fulfills its commitments and we will do everything necessary."
Thus, he recalled the approval of a package of urgent measures worth 8.2 million euros to reverse the environmental degradation of the ecosystem and noted on December 26 as the date on which the Governing Council will approve the draft Law on Integral Protection of the Mar Menor.
