The Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena was in charge of ending this Thursday, November 21, the cycle of Promotional Concerts of the Contest Between Strings and Metals, organized by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory of Music.
The concert, attended by the Councilor for Youth, David Martínez, the mayor of the corporation, Isabel García, and the director of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, María José Castaño, was composed of six pieces, so it was very varied.
In the first part, they played the classics Beethoven and Mozart and in the second part there was music closer to the 20th century and with Spanish composers such as Joaquín Turina and E. de Melchor.
As a common curiosity to the three concerts, during the duration of the concerts he was accompanying them on stage, a painting by Joaquín Turina y Areal, father of the famous composer and musician, Joaquín Turina Pérez.
The painting, called "Reading" was painted by his father in 1882, the same year his famous son was born.
The concert began with the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonardo Martínez, with the first movement, of one of the quartets composed by Beethoven, in accordance with Leonardo Martínez for String Quartet String Orchestra No. 11 in Fa m, Op. 95 "Serious."
The first soloist of the night was Marcos García Barrera (violin) with Concert No. 3 on Sol KV.
216 for violin and orchestra by WA Mozart, Alberto López Bernal (horn) followed him with Concert No. 4 on Mib KV.

Then it was the turn of Paula Soriano Ibañez (saxophone) with the Concert in Mib Op. 109 for saxophone and string orchestra by A. Glazounov that gave way to Marta García de Andrés Martínez (piano) with the Symphonic Rhapsody for piano and orchestra Op. 66 by J. Turina.
The final touch was given by Daniel Madrid Jordán (flamenco guitar) accompanied by singer Mamen Fernández and Alejandro Solano (cajón) who played Callejón del Aire.

The Auditorium of the Conservatory enjoyed the interpretation of these five young people, whose level highlighted the director Leonardo Martínez "in five or six years we will be seeing them in very important concert halls and it will take a lot of work to bring them to Cartagena."
These concerts have given the opportunity to the winners of the contest, in each of their calls, to participate as soloists with the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra (with a Chamber Orchestra template), in three Promotional Concerts that have taken place this year. in Murcia, Jumilla and Cartagena.
Highlight the collaboration of all Conservatories, teachers, students, who year after year participate and contribute with their support to the promotion of music among young people.
Once the 2019 Promotional Concerts are concluded, a new edition of the Between Strings and Metals Contest will take place this year, in its XXIII edition dedicated to Lv Beethoven, remembering that the registration deadline ends on December 18.
