More than 1,500 Cartagena have requested aid for the damages suffered in their homes or premises during the cold drop episode last September.
Yesterday, November 20, the deadline for submitting applications to the Government Delegation, which has been open for two months, ended.
At this time, the City Council of Cartagena has made available to citizens OMITAS, offices that are distributed throughout the municipality and that have opened in extraordinary hours to meet their demands and requests.
Thus, the OMITA that has received the most requests is Los Nietos, which has given direct attention to 553 citizens, 248 registrations made in the Municipal General Registry and 58 referrals to the Government Delegation in the Region.
The number of applications is followed by the OMITA of Los Urrutias, with 230 people served, 142 records in the Municipal General Registry and 24 referrals to the Government Delegation.
Both account for more than 80% of the applications.
On the other hand, in Alitudes only one petition was registered and two in La Aljorra.
In total, there are more than 1,500 citizens throughout the municipality of Cartagena who have requested information or assistance during these two months after DANA.
Of this total, 120 applications have been sent to the Government Delegation and some 470 people have requested other types of aid, exemptions or bonuses.
Extraordinary hours to serve citizens began on Monday, September 16, just a few days after DANA, in the OMITAS of Los Nietos, Los Urrutias and La Manga, the areas most affected by the storm.
Thus, during the first two weeks, the offices have opened in the morning and afternoon, even on weekends: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ;
Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
After those two weeks, at which time the situation began to normalize, special schedules were maintained on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the OMITA in Los Nietos, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Los Urrutias.
The City of Cartagena, to help residents affected by the DANA, has managed a reduction in the receipt of water for the month of September, which must be requested through Hidrogea or Social Services, as well as a bonus of up to 90 % in the ICIO for the repair of homes or premises affected by the episode of cold drop that shook our municipality in September.
This assistance may be requested from January 2020, when the new municipal tax and fees ordinance enters into force.
In turn, this new ordinance also contemplates a reduction in the amount of the IBI and the IAE for those affected by the DANA, provided that they have been subject to relocation or there have been damages that require the closure of the activity, as indicated by the Royal Decree 11/2019.
