The accident rate of the year 2018 on the urban roads of the municipality of Cartagena has been the lowest recorded in the last decade according to the Annual Report of the Local Police.
During the past year, a total of 1,200 accidents were recorded, 138 less than 1,338 in 2017.
As for accidents with injured, in 2017 there were a total of 504, while in 2018 there were 430.
Losses in which only material damage was recorded were also reduced by 64, from 834 to 770.
In the global calculation, the last two years of the last legislature have been the ones with fewer accidents since 2012, registering a rebound in the number of claims in 2015, with 2,102.
IMPROVEMENTS IN ROAD SIGNALING
The Councilor for Security, Juan Pedro Torralba, explained that “since the beginning of this term, improvements are being made in both vertical and horizontal signage.
We are also working to promote awareness among the youngest and recently the entire Road Education Park has been painted, through which more than 2,500 schoolchildren pass each year. ”
He also pointed out that the pedestrian crossings of San Flix, Barrio Peral, Jos Mara Lapuerta, Mediterranean Urbanization, Nueva Cartagena, Media Sala, San Antn, and the Cuatro Santos and Virgen de la Caridad neighborhoods have already been repainted.
