During the past month of September, the municipal group MC Cartagena, through councilor Enrique Pérez, asked the local executive about the incidents that occurred in the San Ginés neighborhood after the floods suffered by the effects of DANA.
The initiative underlined the need to improve the rainforest network of the neighborhood, as evidenced by the damage suffered in commercial low, garages, gas stations or homes.
As a result of this initiative, Roma Street in San Ginés has improved its efficiency in the collection of rainwater with seventeen new scuppers that will provide capacity to drain torrential rains to prevent flooding.
Neighborhoods and councils, priority for MC
After checking it on the ground, the Cartagena councilor Enrique Pérez has shown his satisfaction for achieving this goal.
"As usual, from the Government or the opposition, MC leads the way. We are in politics for this; serve the neighbors, set priorities and achieve results. We are glad that, on this occasion, it is the neighborhood of San Ginés la benefited, also in need of many other actions to improve the quality of life of its neighbors. "
"In our training we understand that planning is fundamental in political action. For that there must be an exact knowledge of the situation, something that seems to escape the current local government, especially in our neighborhoods and districts, which fall back into oblivion. ", Pérez lamented.
Subsequently, the mayor of Cartagena has wished that "this action is not an isolated event and the rainwater network in the municipality continues to improve, whether it is the responsibility of the Consistory or the concessionaire. For this, we demand proactive and supervisory policies also with the obligations derived from the water contract that should be used for the modernization of infrastructure ".
Enrique Pérez has finished pointing out as priority areas, among others, "La Aljorra, El Llano del Beal or La Palma. We will be vigilant to ensure that what happened in San Ginés is not an isolated event and these improvements reach the areas in need throughout the municipality".
