Cartagena, with sustainable fishing is a project of the Columbares Association that is sponsored by the Port Authority of Cartagena, whose newest aspect is that it has been directed to socially vulnerable groups, which are often left out of education campaigns environmental.
Thus, during the months of October and November, 200 people with physical and / or intellectual disabilities, with limited economic resources or groups at risk of social exclusion have had the opportunity to know the fishing and natural heritage of the Cape environment of sticks.
This week the last of the seven educational itineraries of the Cartagena project took place in Cabo de Palos, with sustainable fishing, in which a tour of the fishing port, the coast and the lighthouse has been made and explained to the students Participants of the Marine Reserve of fishing interest of Cabo de Palos-Islas Hormigas, the different boats and fishing gear used in the area and the importance of artisanal fishing as an economic activity compatible with the conservation of marine biodiversity.
The activity also visited the Office of Surveillance and the Classroom of the Marine Reserve, where those responsible explained to the attendees how their work is done and the role of the marine protected area in the conservation and regeneration of fishery resources.
