On Sunday, November 17, the Port of Cartagena will become a motorcycling circuit for a few hours to host the 43rd edition of the Corpus Motorcycling Trophy.
From 10 in the morning, lovers of the motorcycle world will have free access to this event, in which the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena collaborates.
The competition is organized by the Moto Club of Cartagena.
The Circuit del Batel will host tests of all types of motorcycles and for all ages and, at noon, a tribute will be made to the champion of Spain of motorcycles in the category of 125 cubic centimeters, the cartagenero Manuel Hernández Nicolás.
The Councilor for Sports, Diego Ortega, has presented the Corpus Motorcycling Trophy accompanied by the president of the Cartagena Moto Club, Ángel Cánovas 'Capi' and the technical director of the event, José Diego Serrano.
Manuel Hernández Nicolás has also been present.
The surroundings of the Municipal Auditorium El Batel will house a motorcycle circuit 600 meters long in which the riders will take 25 laps.
There will be different tests during the morning, as reported by the technical director of the Trophy, José Diego Serrano.
First the 50 cc race will go.
Then, it will be the turn of the motorcycle of the 80 and 125 cubic centimeter new pilots.
After this test, the veteran motorcycles will go in the displacement of 80 and 125. The 250 motorcycles will follow and the climax test will be put on the free force test, dedicated to motorcycles larger than 250 cubic centimeters.
At noon, there will be a break in the competition to honor Manuel Hernández Nicolás from Cartagena, who was Spain's champion of 125 cubic centimeters.
This athlete is still linked to the world of motorcycles even though he is no longer a racing driver.
He is currently leading the H43 team, which this weekend will compete in Valencia with a Japanese driver.
The pilot said he was “very grateful for the tribute that will be given to me through the Moto Club Cartagena.
It is a motivation and a great joy to be able to be Sunday with all the fans that come to see us.
I will bring my racing bikes with the ones I ran.
We have restored them, we have prepared them so that people can see them, I will have the honor of taking a few turns so that people can see me on the motorcycle again and remember old times. â€
For his part, Councilor Diego Ortega wanted to congratulate the Moto Club Cartagena for the 43 years of the tournament and 64 years since his birth and did not want to miss the opportunity to “encourage all lovers of the world of motorcycles to approach the port this Sunday â€.
Finally, the president of the Cartagena Moto Club, Ángel Cánovas 'Capi', recalled that this club is the second oldest in Spain.
In addition, he says they hope to increase the impact of the public that the event had last year.
Cánovas recalled that it is a simulation of races with classic motorcycles, where all the measurements of a normal race will be carried out.
There will be ambulances with health personnel, volunteers and career commissioners.
