A mortarboard and a capitular cloak and a sword from the medieval period are some of the donated objects of the Order of Santa Maria of Spain, which can be visited from this morning, November 12, in the Castle's Tribute Tower of the Conception of Cartagena.
After the signing of the agreement between the City of Cartagena and the Order of Santa María de España, the second deputy mayor and councilor of the area of ​​Tourism, Commerce, Health and Consumer Affairs, Manuel Padín and the major commander of the Order, Juan Aurelio Bernal , have visited the pieces that have been donated to the museum fund of the Castillo de la Concepción.
During the visit, the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, said that these donated pieces make "Cartagena even bigger."
The Order of Santa de María de España is a Spanish military order of naval character created by order of the King of Castile, Alfonso X El Sabio, in the year 1270. The Tower of the Tribute of the Castle of the Conception of Cartagena was the headquarters where the Master of the Order lived and ruled from there.
The major commander of the Order, Juan Aurelio Bernal, explained that in addition to the donated pieces, a “banner, an explanatory poster and several documents†will be delivered.
I CONGRESS OF KNIGHT ORDERS
This weekend, Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17, Cartagena hosts the First Congress of Cavalry Orders, organized by the Order of Saint Mary of Spain, and where various topics such as the role of orders in the 21st century and in society.
Numerous activities have been organized such as the delivery of the Grand Cross of Honor of the Order of Saint Mary of Spain to the City of Cartagena, the inauguration of the exhibition of donated pieces, the veneration of the relics of the Four Saints and the Lignum Crucis, the celebration of a Solemn Eucharist before the image of Saint Mary of Spain in the Church of Santo Domingo and finally, a great dinner.
This congress will be attended by gentlemen from multiple Military and Cavalry Orders of Spain and Portugal, as well as representatives of the Nobility of both countries.
