The first meetings of the Panel of Experts “Third Sector - Social Environment” that the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has convened have begun so that, with the conclusions obtained, the UPCT can implement in its Strategic Plan the relative lines of action to its social responsibility and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For the UPCT, immersed in the process of preparing its Strategic Plan 2021-2025, “it is of great interest to know the reality of our social environment, its assessment of our Institution and identify its needs and demands in order to establish collaboration synergies ”.
For this reason, the UPCT Social Council convened representatives of the main organizations of the third sector and public administration to collaborate in the Panel of Experts that was moderated by the Vice Chancellor for Economic and Strategic Planning, Antonio Durndez.
Representatives of the ONCE Foundation, Red Cross, Caritas Cartagena, the Third Sector Sector Platform of Murcia, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Comarca (FAVCAC), the NGO Coordinator of the Region of Murcia, the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), the Voluntary Platform Region of Murcia and the European Network for the fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion (EAPN).
In addition, the councilors from different areas of the Cartagena City Council were also invited to participate, such as Social Welfare and Sports;
Decentralization and Citizen Participation and Culture, Youth and Equality.
The third sector groups all those entities that belong to what is called the social economy and is located halfway between the private and public sectors.
It includes cooperatives, associated labor companies, labor societies, non-profit organizations, charitable, mutual or mutual associations and micro associative enterprises.
