The Department of Culture of Cartagena collaborates with the Regional Museum of Modern Art and the Municipal Archive of Cartagena within the programming of the FICC Cartagena International Film Festival in the celebration of the # HomeMovieDay2019 on Friday, November 8.
For this occasion the organization of the programming has been carried out by Memories of the Celluloid, a project of the Audiovisual Preservation Rearview Association that is part of the Domestic Cinema Network that have proposed a series of activities in order to recover domestic cinema , know their particular language, and put it in value for reuse as archival material.
Domestic Cinema Day revolves around family films (Super 8, 8mm and 16mm) in order to raise awareness among the local citizens of the importance of this type of material as part of family memory, but also as a historical document and cultural heritage.
These types of meetings (Home Movie Day), organized by The Center for Home Movies in 2002 (USA) have an international character, and this year 2019 is celebrated in Cartagena and the V edition.
Before Friday, citizens are invited to remove their forgotten rolls of Super 8, 8mm, 16mm and 9.5mm from the drawers and contribute them to recover them and enjoy them again with the audience as part of the collective memory of Cartagena .
On November 8 between 10am and 2pm or 5pm and 7pm, they can be taken to MURAM.
From Wednesday, November 6, they can be taken to the Cartagena Municipal Archive at the following times from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Tuesday also from 5:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Subsequently they are identified with the owner's data, they are inspected, cleaned and if necessary they are restored so that they are able to be projected.
The Celuloides Memories project offers the possibility of digitizing the films, which would take a little more time and in that case they would become part of the project
