This morning, the Councilor of the Municipal Group MC Cartagena, Ricardo Segado, has valued the news known in recent dates that reflects the intention of the Government to improve accessibility on the cover to the Youth Center of Quarries.
An announcement that coincides with the motion presented by the Cartagena councilor demanding that the necessary works be undertaken to guarantee full accessibility and security in the current headquarters of the Astronomical Association of Cartagena (ASAC), which houses its two planetary observatories in the Roof of this public building.
Thus, Ricardo Segado congratulated the association for the "declaration of intentions made by the local government, which amounts to about one hundred thousand euros the necessary investment that, in addition, would have to be made over the next year."
"From MC we are delighted to provoke the reaction of the Executive. Even if they go in tow and mark the way for them, the beneficiaries are the residents of Cartagena and for that we are in politics, to attend to them and resolve their demands. We did so while we were at the Government, and we will continue to do so from the opposition, "argued Segado.
"However," continued the councilor of MC, "the background defines this Government. His word is not a guarantee of compliance. On the contrary, his faults are daily. For that reason, and because the blows of the local Executive are countless , we will be vigilant to verify that these promises become a project first and that their financing and execution will be guaranteed later. If not, we will be a speaker to denounce it and demand a performance that aims to make accessible to all a wonderful hobby that has no limits ".
The justification of the action
It should be remembered that among the initiatives to be carried out, it is inexcusable to replace the access steps to the two esplanades with ramps that allow people with reduced mobility, wheelchairs, baby carriages, etc.
In the same way, another priority is the substitution of the gravel floor with a more suitable one and with a smaller weight.
With this solution it would also result in safety, comfort and capacity, allowing more public access to the esplanades.
