In the morning of today, and after announcing the local government the rise in taxes and indebtedness to which they have addressed the City Council in just four months of office, the mayor, in collusion with her PP partners, has suspended the plenary session of the October preventing the opposition from demanding accounts of its dire management.
For this, he has resorted to the popular mayor Esperanza Nieto, who has interrupted the Plenary falsely affirming that José López had disqualified her at the door, a strategy that is repeated, because in 2017, José López and a municipal employee of MC were provoked, and the latter attacked, at the gates of the Plenary session in order to avoid the debate on Hydrogea.
The deputy spokesman of the municipal group MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, has denounced that "we are still surprised by the fascist ways of the mayor and Noelia Arroyo on the Board of Spokespersons."
And it is that after being summoned in what has been announced as a break, "we have tried to coerce conditioning the resumption of the Plenary to which José López recognized and recanted disqualifications that had not been made, and that all councilors, also including him and his group, made a public statement of disapproval of that invented behavior. "
After that, the mayor explained that "we have refused to accept this form of totalitarianism and censorship, and we have also warned the mayor and her cooperators that they were violating our fundamental rights and preventing their political action from being controlled."
"This has motivated the mayor to adopt the decision unilaterally because she needed to suspend this Plenary."
Giménez has detailed that "after knowing the arbitrary decision, José López, in his own name and that of his municipal group, has directed an instance to the City Hall (which is accompanied) demanding: The resumption of the session in the afternoon, the cessation of the strategy of anti-democratic censorship of the political action of the undersigned and of the municipal group MC Cartagena, that for the presidency of the Plenary, equal treatment be offered to the mayor of the opposition with respect to those of the Government, public apologies for the falsehoods expressed and the coercion suffered, the call to order of the mayor Esperanza Nieto for interrupting the session with falsehoods, and, of course, the transfer in writing of the reason for the agreed suspension. "
Finally, Jesús Giménez has advanced that "notwithstanding the resolution adopted by the Mayor's Office, José López and MC reserve actions for coercion, as well as against the organized and continued attack on their fundamental rights that Arroyo and Castejón have orchestrated together with theirs.
A despicable strategy that seeks to justify its coalition of government and its shortcomings, which cost us Cartagena money and, above all, future. "
