The Councilor for Youth of Cartagena, David Martínez Noguera, announced today, October 30, that next year 2020 will address the reform of the Youth Center of Quarries to ensure full accessibility of the property.
The technicians of the Department have made an inspection visit with the intention of documenting all the improvements that need to be made to facilitate the passage to users with reduced mobility of the Astronomical Association of Cartagena (ASAC), which operate in the last building floor.
“Our technicians have observed that to enter the roof, where two planetary observatories are located, several steps have to be saved and that, in addition, the ground is covered with gravel, which makes it impossible for people with mobility problems to access â€, said David Martínez.
The mayor has explained that he has already given instructions so that, as soon as possible, “a study on the stability of the property is prepared, to know how the structure of the building will respond to the increase in usage overloadsâ€.
The conditioning of the roof for people with reduced mobility implies replacing it with a flat, easily passable and finished with Catalan tile, as well as the installation of an access ramp with non-slip pavement on one of the sides.
According to the assessment made by the municipal technicians themselves, the investment required to carry out these works will amount to around 100,000 euros.
