The Legal Council of the Region has published the Opinion (399/19) that ratifies the compatibility of public and private activities of the spokesman of the municipal group MC Cartagena, José López.

It should be remembered that this compatibility is confirmed by three reports during all the legislatures since 2011. Despite this, as López recalled this morning at a press conference held at the City Hall, "in November 2017, the PP said it would have to return my salary because my business activity was not compatible with my public office. "

Likewise, "the director of the Municipal Legal Department affirmed, on January 5, 2018, that he had breached my obligation to request compatibility and should be sanctioned with the return of my wages."

The PSOE also joined this reason as explained by the mayor: "in January of this year they also assured that there was a clear collision between my activity and my salary", regretting that despite being "a subject that was clear from the beginning ", it has not been clarified before" because they have not wanted neither the PP nor the PSOE ".

In spite of all these accusations, the Legal Council of the Region, "that entity to which they requested a report to try to depart from the technical criteria and to extend the matter, perhaps thinking that the influence of the PP and the regional government in its composition would allow them a report that accommodates his lies ", has ratified the previous reports on the compatibility of José López issued by the General Secretariat of the Plenary.

The report of the Legal Council reflects, in the words of José López, that "I have submitted the declarations to which I am obliged; that it is not appropriate to return any salary; that my activity is compatible and that it has been demonstrated with my actions during my years as mayor ; that if there are no more documents and more evidence it is because the City Council did not ask me, so it is shown again that they lie, that they persecute me and are obsessed with me. "

For all this, José López has highlighted that "once again, it is shown that we are not like them, that we are clean, honest and compliant, that 'La Trinca' is them and we are the ones fighting against the trinque", reiterating that "I am legal and clean and they are murky and corrupt, loud and clear, in the face. Once again and all that is needed."

For his part, the deputy spokesman of the municipal group MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, said that "now the City Council will have to conclude and file an issue that they opened as part of a political persecution", showing the Council that "José López no breached any legal obligation, does not develop an incompatible activity and does not have to return any salary. "

From the reading of the Opinion of the Legal Council it is clear that "the Mayor's Office did not provide the file to the Council when asked to inform, then sent the file without the documents provided by José López, something that makes the report clear, as well as that if there is a lack of documentation related to José López, it is because they have not asked for it. "

In addition, he reiterated that there are three reports that support the compatibility of López's business activity with his public office: "one at the beginning of the legislature between 2011 and 2015, another at the beginning of this legislature that has been approved a few dates ago and which was issued in 2018 by the Plenary General Secretary. "

Finally, he drew attention to the fact that the report says that "it is the first time that a compatibility has to be reported afterwards", concluding that the "City Council will have to file and acknowledge that it has been lying for two years ".
