This Wednesday, October 23, the Municipal Council of Children and Adolescents of Cartagena, an organ belonging to the program "Child Friendly Cities" of UNICEF, met in order to work around the rights of children contemplated in the Universal Declaration of Rights, recognized by the United Nations Assembly in 1959.
The statement was addressed and its adaptation to the current situation of the children was analyzed, reflecting on their compliance or not and exemplifying these issues.
To end the session, they read a manifesto elaborated with the information they worked on and embodied the rights in cardboard hands under the slogan "For me and for all my colleagues", which guides UNICEF's proposal for work for November 20.
The Municipal Council of Children and Adolescents of Cartagena thus begins its second year of work coinciding with the beginning of the school year.
Formed by children between 9 and 17 years old as a body for the participation of children and adolescents in Cartagena, it meets monthly to work on the issues they consider a priority for the improvement of the situation of children and adolescents in the city.
