Cartagena is the scene of the celebration of the Veterans Day of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard.
Each year this act is celebrated at a different point in the Spanish geography.
On the occasion of this day, this Thursday, October 24, from 12 noon, on the esplanade 'Royal Scale' of the Alfonso XII pier in Cartagena, the traditional hoisting of the National Flag will be held, chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Defense, Lieutenant General of the Army, Fernando Alejandro Martínez.
This act will also be attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo, the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, accompanied by the Admiral General, Teodoro López, Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy (AJEMA) and Lieutenant General (GC), José Manuel García, president of the Royal Veterans Brotherhood of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard.
In addition to the tribute to the flag, there will be the imposition of decorations for veterans, the tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain and the parade of the Company of Honors and the Association of Veterans.
Veterans Day will end with the traditional Spanish wine.
SECURITY DURING THE VETERAN'S DAY
With the arrival of 1,800 people from various parts of Spain, the Local Police of Cartagena informs that they will make cuts that will affect traffic flow in the Plaza Heroes of Cavite, Calle Real, Calle Pescadería and Paseo Alfonso XII.
The underground car parks of La Marina, Plaza del Par and Avenida América, which are the closest to the place of the event, will have access all morning, with the exception of the one located in Paseo Alfonso XII that during the parade access will be restricted.
