The Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena hosts the ´Eikon´ exhibition by Cartagena artist Kraser (22/10/2019)

The exhibition 'Eikon' by Kraser, which opens on Friday, October 25 at 8:00 p.m.

In the exhibition halls of the Museo Teatro Romano de Cartagena, it closes a year of various activities in the city to commemorate the trajectory of the Cartagena artist in the last thirty years.

For this project, the artist has sought his source of inspiration in Greco-Roman classicism, taking as “icons” works that sink their roots in our own identity as European citizens, these works are reinterpreted with their own language, which is the personal code of the Artist and urban art.

In the tour of the exhibition, the visitor will face pieces inspired by sculptural works known from the Classical, Renaissance or Neoclassical period that the viewer can recognize as timeless icons, but now converted into new artistic creations where figuration, the force of color prevails , geometric and plant elements, creating a new Olympus, that of Kraser.

Thus, the splendid mural, which he has painted on the spot, dedicated to Horse Racing, is a tribute by the artist to the Olympics of the Greeks in honor of the goddess Athena.

The horses in full movement seem to have no charioteers, the work, large format, has the stamp of the author and his pictorial language seeking harmony between the irrational and the fantastic.

Therefore, in the particular imaginary of Kraser on horseback between the oneiric and the surreal, his vision of the god Bacchus / Dionysus, the "Mad God", could not be missed, revealing that other hidden face of Greek thought between the Mithos and the logos.

In that mythological and irrational world, his Medusa, guardian that drives away evil, contrasts with the beautiful Three Graces, which inspired the sculptural group of Antonio Canova, have life and color.

In another format and technique Kraser has dedicated a Series to sculptural works found in the Roman Theater and in other buildings recovered from the old Carthago Nova, paying homage to his city and its archaeological wealth.

This series intervenes on the image of the Altars of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, the altar of Caio Csar or the relief of the Rea Silvia, among others, creating fractures and planes of color transferring the classic works to the most contemporary world of urban art .

In short, Kraser shows his urban art in the Roman Theater, introducing his pictorial language full of creative imagination in its exhibition halls, thus establishing a new dialogue between the ancient world and contemporary creation.
