The team of the Association of IEEE Students (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has managed to rank third nationally in the IEEExtreme tournament, in which for over 24 hours have participated more than five thousand teams of universities around the world.
From Saturday morning to Sunday, the team formed by students Mariano Fernández Abadía, Artur Linnik and José Luis Sanz Ruiz, who belong to the IEEE UPCT Student Branch Association of the most famous worldwide network of engineers, faced the challenge of solving the most varied questions of programming and mathematical analysis of data.
The tournament is recognized worldwide for the high level of problems and it assesses not only the resolution of the problem, but the efficiency of the algorithm with which it is resolved, that is, that it does not consume excessive time or memory in its execution .
The platform used this year has been CS Academy, a prestigious training web portal for programmers.
The IEEE UPCT Student Branch association promotes the development of programming skills of its members with courses and support.
Over the years, a community has been created where veteran members encourage and share knowledge with the new members, increasingly expanding the know-how of the association.
The fruits of this work have been rewarded with the national podium for the UPCT, where it has surpassed many other national universities that have computer faculties.
Most of the students of this association belong to the Telecommunications and Industrial schools.
The IEEE is the largest international non-profit association formed by professionals of the new technologies.
It was created in 1884 by Thomas Alva Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Franklin Leonard Pope and other engineers and is dedicated to the dissemination of scientific articles in the field of engineering worldwide.
