“The Sea of Music has been positioning Cartagena on the map of 'world music' since 1995, focusing its proposal on countries on five continents, and accompanying concerts with exhibitions, colloquiums, workshops, activities for children and with the will to decentralize the music and move it from a single stage and bring it closer to the neighborhoods ”.
These are the reasons why La Mar de Msica de Cartagena has been recognized today with the 2019 National Waves of Music Award in the category of Best show, tour or festival, together with Sonorama Ribera and Convert Music Festival.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Beln Castejn, has expressed the pride that it implies for the festival, the City Council and for all the Cartagena people that “this festival as ours has received recognition like this.
We are very happy that La Mar de Msica brings the National Waves of Music Award to Cartagena, and I am sure that Paco Martn will also be very proud of the great team that continues to work very hard for that son, to whom he gave his life 25 years ago, keep growing. ”
The festival has been recognized together with Today for today, Resistance, Saved, Nobody Knows Anything, More than one, Carlos Franganillo, Paloma del Ro or Camilo Sesto in the 66th edition of the Ondas Awards, granted by the PRISA Group through Radio Barcelona, of the SER chain.
This year, more than 450 applications from 25 countries had been received.
With a trajectory of 65 editions held since its foundation in 1954, the Ondas Awards recognize and promote radio, musical and television productions that, both nationally and internationally and in all their genres and formats, provide innovative elements and improve the experience of Your audience
In the musical part the Waves have wanted to reward the trajectory of Camilo Sesto "with the intention of repairing the absence of recognition and awards to his career as an interpreter, composer and creator".
The Best festival has been, ex aequo, for the Sonoroma Ribera, La Mar de Msica and Concert Music Festival.
The jury has also awarded Rosalia with the Musical Phenomenon of the Year award.
The Sea of Music is a festival organized by the City of Cartagena since 1995 and this edition, the first without its creator Paco Martn, has been dedicated to Portugal.
An event that the organization has recognized as well as music, focuses on the lyrics, arts and cinema of a country.
