The Cartagena City Council will participate in the "COLEOPTER" project (Local Consultation for the Optimization of Territorial Policies on Rural Energy) belonging to the Interreg Sudoe Program that supports regional development in southwestern Europe by financing transnational projects through the ERDF Fund.
Last Tuesday, October 15, the first work start meeting took place in the administrative building on San Miguel Street of this project led by RURENER (European Network of rural communities involved in the energy transition).
This has followed the objective of improving energy efficiency policies in public buildings and homes, being approved the renovation of the youth hostel of Tallante municipal property in Casas Altas.
In total, four buildings related to children and local communities will be examined, three of them will be renovated, including the hostel, next to a sports facility in Póvoa de Lanhoso de Portugal and an educational entertainment and leisure center for children and young people in Est Creuse de France, in addition to the construction of a new one in this same city.
It was this Wednesday, October 16, when the councilor of the delegation of Sustainable City and European Projects, Cristina Mora, has visited the facilities of the hostel, so far in disuse, along with the rest of the project partners, also visiting as last activity of this first meeting the facilities of the Roman Theater of Cartagena with closure in the Assembly Hall, also with the presence of the mayor delegate of Infrastructure, María Casajús.
"It is a sustainable and innovative project, where the City Council intends to turn this hostel into an example of energy and water efficiency," Cristina Mora reports during the closing ceremony, "the purpose is also to promote ecotourism in the areas rural areas of Cartagena ".
The BIM technology will be used as tools to build information models and dialogue with the stakeholders related to the project.
During the visit, the LIFE Project of the Garbancillo de Tallante was also exhibited, since some of the reforestation carried out were in the surroundings of the hostel.
The Infrastructure Department of the City Council of Cartagena will be responsible for carrying out the technical actions of the project to be put out to public tender, as well as the construction and renovation of the building, together with the supervision of the works and the realization of local sessions Public participation with citizen participation with local businesses.
The total project budget is € 204,949.60, subsidized by the ERDF funds € 153,712.20, with the total cost of the building renovation project being € 149,500.00.
