The City of Cartagena has held on Tuesday October 15 an extraordinary plenary session chaired by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, for the formation by public lottery of the polling stations for the elections to the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, convened for the Sunday November 10.
In total there are 258 tables that will be distributed throughout the municipality, one less than in the previous elections, for each of which nine people have been designated: a titular president, a 1st vowel and a 2nd vowel, as well as two alternates for each of them.
During the extraordinary session, which has been brief, the draw has been held by a computer procedure to, as explained by the accidental general secretary of the plenary, Alicia García Gómez, obtain three numbers from 1 to 999 from among the lists of voters of each table that have the necessary qualification, determining the 2,322 people who will be called to participate as presidents, members and alternates.
The numbers are obtained randomly, corresponding to the first number drawn from the president, the second number to the 1st vowel and the third number to the 2nd vowel.
From these numbers, 5 are subtracted from each one to obtain the first substitutes for president and members, and 5 are added to designate the second substitutes.
It is determined that there are 5 to ensure that members of the same family do not match.
In the draw held on Tuesday, for the president the number 819 has left;
for vowel 1st 856;
and for 2nd vowel number 686. These numbers have been passed to the Municipal Data Processing Center to obtain the names of the designated persons, which in turn will be sent to the Electoral Board which will be in charge of ordering their notification to the Police Local.
According to the electoral legislation, the position of president and member of the polling stations is a right and a civic duty, which can only be excused for incompatibility or force majeure, duly accredited.
In return, the presidents and members who exercise this function will be entitled to a paid permit, if it coincides with their working day, and individual diets, in the last elections they were 65 euros, exempt from retention by the Treasury.
