During this weekend, the “II Spanish Armed Trophy - V Centenary of the 1st Sailing World Tour” of Latin sailing was organized in the port of Cartagena, organized by the Naval Regatta Commission, in collaboration with the Federation of Sail of the Region of Murcia, the Royal Spanish Naval League, the Santa Lucia Yacht Club, the City Council of Cartagena and the Port Authority.
The trophy consisted of two sleeves, with departure and arrival at the central boat dock, where numerous audiences enjoyed the spectacular departure of the participating boats.
In parallel to the sporting events at sea, the public was able to enjoy a Habaneras concert in the same boat dock, where the “Salinas de Torrevieja” Choir and the “A Son de Mar” Choir of Cartagena offered the audience a varied repertoire of music as linked to the seafaring tradition as the Latin candle itself.
All these activities could be carried out thanks to the collaboration provided by the City Council of Cartagena, the Port Authority of Cartagena, in addition to the sponsorship of the Fishermen's Association of Cartagena and the Estrella de Levante, Zamora Company and Hidrogea companies.
In the immediate vicinity of the Isaac Peral Hall of the Naval Museum, the trophies were handed over to the winning endowments, leaving the 3rd “Black Pearl” boat, 2nd place for the “Cala” boat and the champion was the “Arrow” boat.
The awards were presented by the President of the Sailing Federation of the Region of Murcia, Arturo Garca;
the second deputy mayor of the City Council of Cartagena, Manuel Padn, and the admiral head of the Arsenal of Cartagena, Aniceto Rosique, who finally proceeded to the closing of this Trophy.
The Spanish Armada Trophy is the last test of the Carabela de Plata Cup, a regular championship of the Nautical Club of Santa Lucia.
Likewise, it is the last valid test of the regional Latin sailing championship for the 21-span category (just over 4 meters in length).
In this way, this test is the final touch of the Latin sailing season at local and regional level.
