The construction project of the first section of the remodeling platform of the railway network of the City of Cartagena, which is the first step for the construction of the AVE to Cartagena, has been approved by the Ministry of Development and Adif, as agreed by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Secretary of State for Development, Pedro Saura, in the previous legislature.

“We said that the AVE construction works were going to start before the end of the year and it will be.

This was a necessary preliminary step and it has already been taken, �said the mayor.

Castejón sent in September a letter to the Secretary of State for Development, Pedro Saura, in which he requested information on the status of the project for the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena as well as on the train station remodeling project.

In this letter, the mayor expressed her concern about the fact that the new national electoral call could delay both projects.

The Secretary of State responded to Castejón that the works were ongoing and that they would not be delayed, as demonstrated by the award that was made public on October 7.

“Cartagena needs to continue growing and for this it must modernize its infrastructure.

The arrival of the AVE and the electrification of the railway network, as well as the construction of a suburban network, are fundamental.

This is what we agreed in the last legislature with the Government of Spain and this translates into the adjudication of the works that have been made public today.

The central government is keeping its promises, how could it be otherwise, â€�said Castejón.

The mayor hopes that soon we will have more good news with the announcement of the tender of the works for the remodeling of the Train Station, which also agreed with the Government of Spain.

Castejón has indicated that the fight led by the City Council so that the AVE arrives in Cartagena, the Justice facilities are expanded or the Hemodynamics Unit is launched 24 hours a day, seven days a week, among other issues, is getting its fruits .

“Little by little we are getting great and historical claims from our municipality to obtain a response from the central and regional administrations, as it always should have been.

This was the objective of the Government that I preside over and for which we will continue to fight, �explained the mayor.
