According to the 2020 European Entrepreneurship Action Plan, entrepreneurship is an important engine of economic growth and job creation: it creates new companies, opens up new markets and favors new skills and abilities.
New companies, and especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), represent the most important source of new jobs: they create more than four million jobs a year in Europe.
Entrepreneurship makes the economy more competitive and innovative, improves productivity and creates wealth.
But in general, potential entrepreneurs are in Europe in a harsh environment: education does not provide a solid basis for business career, there is difficulty accessing credit and markets, problems transferring business, fear of sanctions in case of failure and burdensome administrative procedures.
To the above, it should be added that the GEM SPAIN 2018-2019 Report (Global Entrepreneruship Monitor) establishes that 63.5% of business dropouts are by people with secondary or primary education compared to 36.5% of dropouts with higher education.
Also, it states that 55.6% of business abandonments do not have specific training to undertake.
In addition, the challenge of increasing the number of entrepreneurs who are encouraged to create new companies as another alternative to work for others, there is the challenge of making new businesses once created grow and that consolidated companies can be more productive and competitive maintaining and creating employment and wealth in local economies.
Therefore, the Agency for Local Development and Employment of the City of Cartagena launches Entrepreneurial Generation Business Growth, an innovative program at national and possibly European level to improve the efficiency and profitability of local businesses, in which through itineraries of Competitiveness intends a deep and integral intervention in the participating companies, by carrying out individualized consultancies and tutorials in three areas, related to the following aspects:
New technologies.
New forms of Business Organization.
Cost Control and Finance.
In this first edition the beneficiary companies will be a reflection of the SMEs of the municipality with the challenge of reaching 30 local companies.
These participating companies will receive on-site visits from October 21 to November 11, 2019 to conduct 18 hours of consulting, 6 hours for each specialty, receiving feedback on November 21, 22 and 23, 2019 and on the 17th December a global competitiveness plan, which includes the improvements of the four areas.
The registration period will end on October 15, 2019.
The entrepreneurial activity of a country or city is usually the reflection of the perceptions that the population has about their aptitudes to undertake and about the existing entrepreneurial culture, with these programs the city of Cartagena aims to boost and boost the local economy and take the lead in business reference models that can motivate people to undertake and invest in companies in the municipality.
All this in order to make business initiatives and companies more efficient, profitable and competitive, which will contribute to the economic and local development of the Manga del Mar Menor.
