José López sends two letters to Pablo Casado and Albert Rivera requesting his intervention before the seriousness of the acts of his parties in Cartagena
Given the attitude of the councilors in Cartagena of the Popular Party and Citizens, who remain in a government presided over by a mayor of the PSOE transfugal and five other councilors in the same situation after being expelled, the spokesman of the municipal group MC Cartagena, José López, yesterday sent two letters to the presidents of PP and Cs, Pablo Casado and Albert Rivera respectively, so that, based on the agreement on transfuguism signed by the political forces with parliamentary representation, the statutes of the PP and what was stated by Albert Rivera, urge the councilors of their formations in the City Council of Cartagena to leave the local government.
The Statutes of the PP leave Arroyo del Gobierno out
In the case of the PP, López has shown that "Article 13 of its Statutes states that the actions of those belonging to an Institutional Party Group use or use transfugations from other parties to constitute, maintain, are considered very serious infraction or change majorities of government in public institutions. "
In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the PP states in its Statutes that very serious infractions will be sanctioned with "the suspension of militancy for a period of time between four and six years; the disqualification to hold positions on behalf of the Party or on behalf of this one for the same period of time or expulsion from the party. "
Therefore, José López said, "the Statutes of the PP are clear, Noelia Arroyo and the other popular councilors in the City of Cartagena must return their minutes to be part of a government chaired and integrated by transfugas."
National Pact Against Transuguism
The mayor of Cartagena has recalled that, on July 7, 1998, political forces with parliamentary representation signed the agreement on transfuguism which states that "the phenomenon of political transfuguism constitutes a problem that affects local corporations acquiring dimensions that experience configures as the political pathology of our system. "
Subsequently, on September 26, 2000, this agreement was renewed by assuming transfuguism, "from a political and ethical perspective, a disloyalty to both the political forces and the voters."
Later, on May 23, 2006, this agreement was renewed as "a commitment to respect the will of citizens and political loyalty in local governments," the signatories committing themselves to "prevent the use of fugitives to constitute, maintain actively or change the majorities of government of public institutions. "
Citizens, against transfuguism?
On transfuguism, Citizens, through its president Albert Rivera, already considered it a performance that "is not ethical", after the abandonment of his party of MEP Javier Nart, adding the president of the orange formation that if a public office already does not militate in his party "does not keep a salary for five years, or the seat and resources and advisers."
For all these reasons, and based on all these arguments, José López has concluded by highlighting that MC claims Casado and Rivera to "require their councilors to immediately leave the government presiding over the Castejón fugitive to end, at once, a situation that it hurts Cartagena tremendously, since our municipality suffers the consequences of suffering a government installed in inaction and only valid to raise their salaries and satisfy their clientele networks. In short, a government fruit of the Pact of Shame. "
