On Saturday, October 12, Hispanic Day is celebrated and among the activities organized in Cartagena to celebrate this historic event is the third edition of the Solidarity March of Hispanity.
This sports and solidarity activity, organized by the UCAM and the Neighborhood Association of the Latin American Neighborhood, in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena, will start from 17:30, from Colombia Street, in front of the local of the Neighborhood Association of the Latin American Neighborhood.
The presentation of the march has been assisted by the Councilor for Sports of the City of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, the academic director of the Campus of the UCAM Cartagena, Juan Alfonso García, the vice president of the Murcian Association of Cystic Fibrosis, Bruno Ventura and the president of the AAVV of the Latin American Neighborhood, Andrea María Rebuffo.
The Councilor for Sports, Diego Ortega, thanked the involvement and collaboration in this march of the Neighborhood Association of the Latin American Neighborhood, "one of the oldest neighborhoods in Cartagena", and UCAM Cartagena, "which are always open to any initiative. "
The activity is framed within the programming of the patron celebrations of the Latin American Neighborhood.
Registration to participate in this march, which has a cost of 1 euro in the children's category and 2 euros in adults, can be made until Friday at the UCAM Campus in Los Dolores or in the Association of Neighbors of the Latin American neighborhood until the day of the activity.
Its president, Andrea María Rebuffo, who has invited to participate in this day of coexistence in order to “exceed the number of sales of bibs from last yearâ€, explained that the march “is around 4 kilometers, which will start from the street Colombia, in front of the premises of the Neighborhood Association of the Latin American Neighborhood, and will tour the neighborhood until arriving at the Plaza María Auxiliadora of the University, where there will be a small refreshment â€.
The integral collection of the solidarity march will go to the Murcian Association of Cystic Fibrosis.
Its vice president, Bruno Ventura, thanked the support of the neighborhood association and UCAM and stressed that "Cartagena is the municipality of the Region most affected by this disease, with 10% of the 160 affected."
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease of autosomal recessive inheritance that mainly affects the lungs, and to a lesser extent the pancreas, liver and intestine, causing the accumulation of thick and sticky mucus in these areas.
Finally, the academic director of the UCAM Campus in Cartagena, Juan Alfonso García, stressed that "this initiative demonstrates the University's commitment to solidarity, sport and the city of Cartagena."
