“The incomparable framework of the former Maritime Instruction Center (CIM), today the headquarters of the Faculty of Business Sciences and the UPCT School of Higher Technical Architecture and Construction, is the perfect example of how you can recover the Cultural Heritage of a city and put it at the service of the population ”.
This was highlighted by the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Daz, during the inauguration of the XXV Cultural Heritage Days of the Region of Murcia, in which he was accompanied by the Director General of Cultural Property, Rafael Gmez Carrasco and ngel Iniesta Sanmartn, Technician of the Historical Heritage Service of the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the CARM.
The Conference, which begins today and will continue during the days 8, 15, 22 and 29 October, will also take place in different places in the Region where there is a heritage to rescue and value, such as Murcia, Ojs and Alhama de Murcia.
Thus, these Days have a double aspect, on the one hand they try to spread the research that, from all points of view, has been carried out in the qualification of the rich regional heritage, with examples such as the Church of Santa Mara de Gracia or the cemetery of Los Remedios de Cartagena, and on the other hand they will also be a technical conference that will be developed "in situ", in key locations for its wealth of heritage.
"Their conclusions will mark future actions in the recovery of cultural property"
The conclusions reached at the end of the XXV Cultural Heritage Days of the Region of Murcia, which are published in a book of minutes and have a wide international dissemination through the Internet, "will mark, as previous editions, the actions that, in the future, the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Region undertakes. ”
They will also serve to put on the world map the magnificent example that Cartagena represents as a “city model that has managed to carry out good practices in the recovery of Heritage,” and managed to convert numerous military buildings into facilities dedicated to university education.
The directors of the Conference, Juan Garca Sandoval, Pedro Enrique Collado and ngel Iniesta, have been advised for their organization by a committee of experts that brings together about twenty-five specialists in heritage, architects and historians, among other professionals, and have had the collaboration of twelve public entities and the sponsorship of important companies in the sector.
