The Regiment of Anti-aircraft Artillery No. 73 of Cartagena finalizes the details of the preparation of the XVIII edition of the already consolidated 'Cross of the Artillery' that will be held on October 27 in our city, together with the collaboration of the Department of Sports, and that already has more than 2 thousand registered among the four tests that compose it.
This has been confirmed by the Colonel Chief of the Regiment, Carlos Javier Sánchez, in the presentation of all the details of the test that was held this Thursday, October 3, in the Military Government building, next to the Vice Mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, and the general director of Sports, Francisco Javier Sánchez.
The event has begun with the awarding of the prize to the winner of the cross poster contest and, therefore, author of this year's poster, the illustrator Josefina Montero, of this test of “so familiar character with the participation of children and girls or even entire families, â€recalled the Colonel Chief, as well as the goal of“ encouraging the initiation of young people in sports â€.
Gathering around 4,000 participants each year, the cross was born as an exclusive test of the regiment, and then opened its participation to all citizens and now has a great “emotional bond†with the city, says the vice mayor, who has confirmed also the support of the City Council in everything necessary for the development of the test such as the transfer of infrastructure and Local Police.
Both remember the three aspects that follow this popular test, which is to promote sports, as well as solidarity, because the benefits obtained are destined, in addition to the organization of the event, to the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
The vice mayor also recalls the importance of sports tourism that gives Cartagena this test, along with others of such relevance as the Route of the Strengths, which attract participants from all over the country, as well as the “commitment of our Armed Forces to Cartagena, being this is one of the most beloved and requested tests. "
FOUR TESTS FOR ALL AGES
The tests will have their departure from the Paseo Alfonso XII, as usual, the main one being the urban cross that runs through the most central streets of Cartagena.
The route of all of them can be consulted on the website of the cross.
The shortest of them will be the children's one with ¼ of Mile with 400m, where the smallest ones will pass through the Arqua to the goal, followed by the Mile with 1609m, the 6 km urban cross that will cover the most emblematic streets of the historic center passing by the Bastarreche Square, the Calle del Carmen or the Wall of the Sea. The longest will be, as is traditional, that of the Christmas Lighthouse with a total of 14 km, where the participants will reach this point and turn it over, passing the main avenues that surround the Port of Cartagena.
Thus, it has 10 categories in total, divided by the age of the participants, of ¼ Mile Benjamin, Prebenjamin, Children's Mile, the Christmas Lighthouse and the Cross, all in both feminine and masculine.
The youngest of the children's event will have a medal for their participation, while all categories will have trophies for the first three places.
