An evacuation simulator, an application to generate three-dimensional images from 2D planes and a game to 'hunt' risks in laboratories are examples of the training potential of new technologies already applied by the Polytechnic of Cartagena
A game inspired by Pokémon GO that consists of discovering chemical, electrical and biological risks in the laboratories through an 'app' of augmented reality is the most spectacular example of didactic use of new technologies that the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has shown during the day on training 4.0 that the rectors of the UPCT and the University of Murcia have opened this morning at the CIM.
“Almost no user reads the safety guides of the laboratories, but through the game we have verified that they learn the risks that exist and how to avoid them while having funâ€, explained Dolores Ojados, responsible for the Design Service during his presentation Industrial and Scientific Calculation of the UPCT.
The 'app' that Álvaro Macián has developed for his Master's Final Project, together with the research group on New Machine Safety Devices, includes questions about safety regulations and a ranking of users who have managed to better identify the risks of burns, short circuits or inhaling harmful gases that exist in laboratories.
"Similar universities and companies have already requested similar developments for their laboratories," says Ojados.
Another example of training 4.0 developed by the UPCT is the evacuation drills of buildings using an immersive virtual reality platform that allows staff to practice how to leave the different facilities of the Polytechnic by raffling a fire.
Students are also direct beneficiaries of these new technologies because Ojados has also explained the application that he has created for the Computer-aided Drawing course he teaches and which he has called 'Delay', since he has verified that with the tool “students save 50% of time doing 3D modeling practices, â€he says.
This 'app' of augmented reality, which is already available in the Virtual Classroom of the UPCT, generates three-dimensional images from plans in two dimensions to facilitate spatial vision for students to design industrial equipment as complex as the engine of a light plane performance that you set as an example during the talk.
The day on Formation 4.0 is restarted tomorrow with the healthy hiking route through Cartagena that created the UPCT and will include a plenary conference on digital transformation of the Public University by the rector of the UNED, Ricardo Mairal.
Permanent education
“Human capital is the fundamental value of a University,†said the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Alejandro Díaz, during the inauguration of the “Second Meeting of the Network of Managers of Corporate Training of Spanish Public Universities
All employees of public universities have to feel that they are an important part of their development and progress. â€
"Today, training is not something that takes place during a moment of life, now it is required that the training be permanent," said José Luján, Rector of the University of Murcia.
In the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the training activities that are being carried out in almost thirty Spanish public universities will be shared during these three days, recalled Josefina García León, General Director of Universities of the Region of Murcia.
