The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation to clarify the theft of numerous pieces of jewelry from the holiday home of two elderly women, located in the town of Los Urrutias-Cartagena, which has resulted in the arrest of a Housekeeper as the alleged author of the crime of theft.
In a gold buying and selling establishment in Cartagena, a gold ring, of great economic and sentimental value, has been recovered and returned to its owners.
Last September, members of the Prevention of Public Safety of the Benemérita began an investigation after two sisters, over eighty years of age, filed a complaint for the theft of different pieces of jewelry, valued at 6,000 euros, of their Summer address located in the town of Los Urrutias-Cartagena.
After carrying out the corresponding eye inspection, the agents found that there were no signs of violence in the accesses to the property, so the investigation focused on identifying the people in their closest environment who had free access to the house.
As a result of the investigations carried out, the Civil Guard learned that a woman who had been hired to take care of household chores went to the home, which made her suspect that she could take advantage of her presence in the house to seize the jewels without raise suspicions
After inspecting several gold buying and selling establishments in the area, the Benemérita located a gold ring, with embedded precious stones, of similar characteristics to one of the stolen ones.
Investigators found that the ring, along with other jewels owned by the victims, had been sold by the suspect.
Once all the necessary evidence has been obtained, the Civil Guard has located and detained a 43-year-old woman, a Spanish national and a neighbor of Fuente Álamo, as the alleged author of the crime of theft.
The total value of the stolen jewelery pieces amounts to 6,000 euros.
The arrested woman, the recovered ring and the proceedings taken have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Cartagena.
