The public universities of the Region have presented today, during the solemn act of opening the course, the academic memory of the previous one, in which the UPCT highlights the increase in its scientific publications and knowledge transfer contracts to the Business.
Specifically, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has increased 23%, up to 468, its publications in journals indexed by its high quality, and concluded 458 contracts, 9% more than the previous year, with companies to which it provides services and goods of R + D + i for an amount of 3 million euros.
"Although public investment in research projects has declined, researchers have continued to increase their pace of publication, which is very creditable," said Vice Chancellor for Research at the UPCT, Beatriz Miguel.
Among the novelties of the Polytechnic in its fertile relationship with the business sector, the report includes the creation of the Emfoca platform, to facilitate access to the University, both for SMEs and large companies, to offer jobs and internships and to request technological services and research
"It is also worth noting the increase in eight points of the percentage of professors participating in transfer, reaching 43%, well above the percentage in the other two universities, since we have been able to promote and encourage researchers to work with companies" , explains Alejandro Pérez Pastor, Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Business.
The report, presented by the general secretaries of the Polytechnic, Rosa Badillo, and Francisco Antonio González, from the University of Murcia, also includes a significant increase in scholarships from the UPCT, whose beneficiaries have grown by 6% compared to the previous year .
