Since last Monday, the works of the Road Cleaning Action Plan and collection of goods in the Mar Menor organized by the Department of Infrastructure are in their final phase following the objective of recovering normalcy in the villages that were affected by the cold drop storm in the municipality of Cartagena.
Councilwoman María Casajús has informed that “this week the maintenance and cleaning of the small remains of dry mud that remain on the road, as well as on beaches and promenades, have begun, after two weeks of intense sludge removal work , furniture and appliances useless by water and help the owners in the Mar Menor area, especially in the most affected villages such as Los Nietos and Los Urrutias ”.
“In total there are 41 operators of the municipal brigades and the concessionary companies that work for the City Council, in morning and afternoon shifts, they are carrying out these works that will continue during this week and the one that comes to restore normalcy,” continues the mayor .
These tasks have been coordinated in teams through the system called 'cleaning train', with a special device of sweeping machines and high pressure washer, supported by operators who are in charge of manual cleaning to prevent the remains from reaching the sea.
After that, the ordinary cleaning services that are already established in the areas of Islas Menores and Mar de Cristal will begin, as well as in the western part of the municipality.
On the other hand, Casajús affirms that during this week the door-to-door collection service will continue and, as of next week, several collection points will be made available to the neighbors.
As for the maintenance of the beaches, it has been highlighted that the beaches and promenades of the Mar Menor that range from La Manga to Mar de Cristal have been cleaned, Today they are working on the beach of Islas Menores and there are still some footwear and walkways to be repaired They were affected by the rains.
As for the beaches of Los Nietos and Los Urrutias, intense work continues on the beaches and promenades.
