The Municipal Commission of the Mar Menor was established today, Wednesday, September 25, thus fulfilling the commitment acquired by the government team with the residents of Los Urrutias, Los Nietos, Punta Brava and Carmolí last August.
As of this moment, the members of the aforementioned commission have announced that they will meet every 3 months to assess the progress made in the area.
“At today's constitutive meeting, not only has the discussion of the management of the municipal multi-annual special fund been discussed, but also about the consequences of the DANA and the extraordinary actions that the City Council has done and will have to do, along with other administrations in the zone.
We have informed the neighbors that in the 2019 budget, which will be presented in the coming weeks, a game has been reserved that is around 250,000 euros to start that Comprehensive Plan committed last August and that in 2020 we will have a superior game that, like this year's, will be used to carry out non-emergency works, â€said the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.
During the meeting, the Contingency Fund that the City Council has set up to deal with the emergency situation in the municipality from September 12 to 14 was also explained to the neighbors.
In this regard, Castejón has explained that “said contingency fund has started with an endowment of 50,000 euros, but the important thing is that we have already activated, and this has been approved in the Government Board, the exceptional contracting mechanism that we will allow to face the emergency works without waiting for the state and regional aid that are to come â€.
The municipal government has committed to establish specific calendars to address the removal of sludge and dry land;
complying with the manual of good environmental practices of protection and regeneration of the beaches of the Mar Menor, which recommends that these tasks be done between January and February;
as well as beach cleaning planning.
Both actions must be carried out by the Autonomous Community and the State, which are really competent in this matter.
“The neighbors have asked us to intensify the work of control and surveillance in the channels of the ramblas, especially in El Albujón, for which it is necessary to increase troops by Seprona and Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura.
In addition, both neighbors and administration are fully aware that the recent torrential rains have aggravated the situation of the Mar Menor and that the measures planned so far must be reviewed and monitored by the Scientific Committee, â€concluded the mayor.
