The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, held a meeting today with the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, to address the main issues of interest of the port city and ensure that “Cartagena continues advanced”, as indicated after the meeting on Minister of the Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán, who explained that “in many of the mayor's demands we were already working, now we are going to focus on the urgent and the strategic to respond immediately to the needs of the city” .
The meeting was, to a large extent, focused on the effects that the cold drop storm has produced in Cartagena, especially in the coastal municipalities of the Mar Menor.
"It is very important that what has happened does not happen again and that is why a very powerful infrastructure plan is needed to prevent these municipalities from being the sinkhole of the Mar Menor every time there are floods," said the Presidency advisor, who added that "we are demanding from the Government of Spain that there is a specific recovery support plan that goes beyond the emergency measures."
Likewise, the president of the Regional Executive and the mayor of Cartagena addressed other issues such as the transfer of the Ministry of Tourism, Youth and Sports to the port city "which is working to make it possible as soon as possible, so we are analyzing the several locations to install the headquarters that should reflect the importance of tourism in Cartagena for the Region of Murcia, ”Celdrán reiterated after the meeting.
