The Festival of Carthaginians and Romans, who turn 30, began this Friday, September 20, with the lighting of the Sacred Fire, the proclamation of Nachos Guerreros and the opening of the festive camp.
These festivities will end this Sunday, September 29, but before that, various events and activities have been organized that bring together thousands of Cartagena, partiers and tourists in the port city.
Cartagena has lived a weekend full of activities such as the Qart-Hadast Foundation, the Destruction of Sagunto or the Plenary Session of the Roman Senate.
The esplanade of the Port of Cartagena gathered on Saturday September 21 to almost 3,000 Cartagena in the representation of the Qart-Hadast Foundation, where the arrival of General Asdrúbal to the city of Mestia is narrated.
The Councilor Delegate for Culture, Carlos Pìñana and the Councilor Delegate for Sustainable City and European Projects, Cristina Mora, attended this show that captivates those present through music, fireworks, the brightness of hearts, swords and Spears and the colorful Greco-Roman clothes.
After the Foundation of Qart Hadasht, in the Town Hall Square, the mayor along with the president of the Federation of Troops and Legions of Carthaginians and Romans, José Antonio Meca, proceeded to raise the Carthaginian flag.
Next, the allegory to Qart Hadasht began on the Molinete Hill, as far as Asdrúbal moved on his horse.
Already on Sunday, September 22, the esplanade of the Port, also, hosted two acts enshrined in the celebrations of Carthaginians and Romans: the Destruction of Sagunto and the Plenary Session of the Roman Senate.
In the Destruction of Sagunto, attendees were able to enjoy a theatrical performance where the siege suffered by the Roman city of Sagunto by the Carthaginian Troops of Hannibal is narrated.
This act was attended by the second deputy mayor, Manuel Padín.
The Plenary Session of the Roman Senate was held on one night, in which the senators conducted a humorous review of the current affairs of the municipality, the Region of Murcia and national politics.
This act is one of the most popular and loved by the Cartagena during the holidays
This act also featured Padin, the Councilor for Public Safety, Public Road and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba and the president of the Federation of Troops and Legions of Carthaginians and Romans.
This Monday, September 23 will take place at 9 pm the theatrical performance of the Anibal and Himilce Weddings on the stage of the Port, a march to the festive camp and at 11:30 pm, the traditional Carthaginian weddings.
