The municipal brigades work to restore normality to Cartagena's beaches (20/09/2019)

The Department of Infrastructure and Coastline directed by María Casajús has intensified during this week the maintenance and conditioning of the Cartagena beaches that were very affected after the episode of cold drop produced last week in Cartagena.

Casajús has explained that "municipal operators and machinery work to condition all the beaches, fix the damage caused, eliminate the clusters that have formed in the sand and clean the brush and dirt caused by the dragging of the rains."

In the Mar Menor area, the municipal brigades are working intensively in Los Nietos, Los Urrutias and La Manga, where the walkways have been removed to act in the arena, the promenades have been cleaned and the damage caused by the strong rains.

These works will continue throughout the weekend in Playa Paraiso, Playa Honda and, next week, they will begin cleaning the beaches of Islas Menores and Mar de Cristal, where the work on conditioning their maritime walks was completed yesterday.

Specifically, in Los Nietos and Los Urrutias, the work of municipal operators is being reinforced by TRAGSA workers who have intensified the cleaning of the beaches of the Arenal and Lengua de La Vaca beaches in Los Nietos, and in Punta Brava and The Urrutias.

On the beaches of the Mediterranean of La Manga and Cabo de Palos, cleaning work on sand, walkways and foot washers continues.

These beaches have been opened today to the bathroom after the withdrawal of dead tuna specimens that reached the shore from the storm.

In the west zone, the beaches of Isla Plana and La Azohía are ready and cleaning work continues in El Portús.

Another of the beaches that has been affected has been Cala Cortina, where municipal brigades with a shovel are conditioning from this morning the beach, fixing the holes and ramblizos and solving the damages produced.

María Casajús has emphasized that “actions have been prioritized in those areas that required it most.

We are working piece by piece to restore normality to Cartagena's beaches and the municipality as soon as possible ”.

These maintenance tasks will continue over the weekend along the coast of Cartagena, in the morning, afternoon and night shifts.
