This Saturday, September 21, the IV UPCT Water Polo Tournament City of Cartagena is held.
From 8:30 am, 29 teams from different areas of Spain will fight for the trophy in the Whale Tail of the Port of Cartagena, enabled to host the event for about 12 hours.
The CW Carthago organizes the championship, which has the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena.
The Deputy Mayor and Councilor of the Sports Area, Noelia Arroyo, has presented the tournament accompanied by the president of the Water Polo Club Carthago, Juan Nieto, the technical director of the entity, Angel Nieto, and the president of the Swimming Federation of the Region of Murcia, Ricardo Martínez, who have explained technical aspects related to this sporting event.
29 teams of 13 clubs from various areas of Spain, such as Madrid, Valencian Community or Balearic Islands, will fight from the early morning for this tournament that reaches its fourth edition.
The 66 matches will be held in the Whale Tail of the Port of Cartagena.
According to the vice mayor and mayor of the Sports Area Noelia Arroyo, this event “serves to continue consolidating Cartagena within the national water polo scene, but also to consolidate our Port as one of the best sports venues we have in the municipality, to continue growing in tourism and sport â€.
In the IV UPCT Water Polo Tournament City of Cartagena will participate athletes from children to absolute category, both male and female.
According to the president of the Water Polo Club Carthago, Juan Nieto, the tournament arouses interest nationwide.
"Every year we receive more requests for equipment from other autonomous communities," says Nieto.
For his part, the technical director of CW Carthago, Ángel Nieto, stressed that this water polo competition aims to “increasingly strengthen the relationship between tourism and sportâ€.
This edition has the collaboration of the Department of Tourism of the City of Cartagena and Cartagena Puerto de Culturas.
Tournament attendees will receive an information dossier on points of tourist interest in the city.
The IV UPCT City of Cartagena Water Polo Tournament is organized by the CW Carthago, the Department of Sports of Cartagena and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
It has the collaboration of the Port Authority of Cartagena, the Santa Ana Sports Club and the Federation of Troops and Legions of Carthaginians and Romans.
