This Friday, September 20, Carthaginians and Romans begin their ten days of celebrations as is tradition with the lighting of the Sacred Fire, which this year presented the novelty of the 30-kilometer journey that will travel the flame until reaching Cartagena, simulating the route of Scipio.
The route 'Iter Ignis', which had planned its departure from the City Hall of Los Alcázares, changes its exit to Cabo de Palos after the decision of the Federation of Troops and Legions, starting from the vicinity of the lighthouse, with the aim of not interfere with the cleaning work that has been carried out after the strong storm of last weekend in these areas, as well as in beaches and towns such as Los Nietos or Los Urrutias.
After this itinerary change, and with the decision to make this route true to its origins, the president of the Carthaginian and Roman Federation, José Antonio Meca, confirmed during the traditional breakfast of this Thursday, September 19, the intention of both municipalities, Los Alcázares and Cartagena, to carry out this 'Iter Ignis' again next year with the original route.
It will be at 15 hours when the igniter of the pebetero and the seventeen corridors is made, among them the winner of the last edition of the Route of the Fortresses, will make the route by service routes from La Manga to Los Belones, passing through the crossing from the Los Nietos road to the second stop at Plaza Joaquín Costa de La Unión, next to the Monument to the Miner, scheduled for approximately 17 hours, and maintaining its arrival at the hill of Molinete at 19 hours.
