Cartagena buses will be free for two days with the aim of promoting among citizens the use of sustainable transport, within the activities programmed by the City of Cartagena, on the occasion of the European Mobility Week.
On Friday, September 20, the Icue Bus lines that circle the Casco Urbano and will be introduced in the most central streets of the city will be free;
while on Saturday, the rest of the urban lines that connect the city with its neighborhoods and districts will also be freely accessible.
In both measures, the concessionary company Alsa City and Tucarsa collaborates with the City Council.
From September 16 to 22, Cartagena celebrates the European Mobility Week, under the slogan "Walk with us!", Encouraging you to choose active modes of transport and combine traveling on foot or by bicycle with public transport.
SUNDAY WITHOUT CARS
From the Department of Security, Public Road and Celebrations of the City of Cartagena, directed by Juan Pedro Torralba, has been prepared to celebrate this week an agenda with initiatives and activities, which includes the celebration on Sunday 22 of the 'Day without cars' with the closure of vehicle access to the historic center of Cartagena, or the project 'On foot to school or by bike' with the dissemination of good practices between parents and children in schools in the municipality on Friday, the 20th to promote fluid traffic in this environment, as well as a diffusion of the benefits of walking and cycling.
The two main objectives of the European Urban Mobility Commission that this week promotes at European level are to eliminate conventional fuel cars in 2050 and move towards urban logistics without emissions in urban centers by 2030.
Within these activities the presentation of the LIFE Waste2Biofuel and SUDOE Stop CO2 projects has already taken place, which aim to eliminate conventional fuel cars and improve energy efficiency at our bus station;
and in terms of accessibility, and with the collaboration of ONCE, Local Police and ESPAC, there have been two activities 'Mobility with White Staff' and 'Accessible Road Safety, facing the challenges of a blind person', on Tuesday, September 17.
