36 activities for more than 30,000 people and more than 200 sporting events will form the program of the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena during the coming months.
The Municipal School of Sailing and Nautical Activities and the program of sport revitalization in open spaces are the main novelties of the offer prepared for the 2019/2020 course by the Municipal Sports Service.
The Deputy Mayor and Councilor of the Sports Area of the City of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, presented this Wednesday, September 18, the program of activities of the new course, highlighting the work of the 91 municipal workers of the Department that have made possible the range of which they have the Cartagena for the next months.
Arroyo also pointed out, as the main novelty of the incoming course, the Municipal Sailing School and nautical activities, a sports modality in which the pioneer cities.
As an example, the Cartagena boat 'El Carmen', champion of the Copa del Rey de Vela 2019.
In this way, the Department wants to encourage the practice of these disciplines at an early age, due to the conditions that Cartagena presents for its practice.
“We believe that Cartagena has a huge untapped capital in sea sports.
In recent months we have rechecked the high level of our sailors, we have important competitions, but we have not yet been able to consolidate sailing and water sports as an extended practice of grassroots sport. ”Explained the vice mayor and mayor of the Noelia Arroyo City Sports Area.
Another of the novelties that this year presents the program of the Department of Sports of the City Council of Cartagena is that of the activities of sport revitalization in open spaces.
In this initiative, specialized health and sports monitors will accompany walkers, marchers, runners or cyclists in the development of their practices so that they are healthy and safe.
The itineraries of these activities will be developed by the historical center of the city, as well as by parks and natural spaces of Cartagena.
The marches carried out during the course will be published on the web and social networks of the Cartagena City Council.
Of the 36 activities offered by the Department of Sports, 18 are done through direct management programs.
Swimming courses, rhythmic gymnastics, basic training for children and activities for the elderly such as gerontogimnasia, pilates or ballroom dancing will be taught in municipal facilities.
There will also be 24 programs through an agreement with sports clubs.
In this way, the Department of Sports will assign facilities to teams that do basic training from an early age.
They will also receive subsidies for competitive attendance.
In addition, 60 agreements for sports promotion will be signed, by which entities may conduct training and competitions in municipal sports venues in the municipality.
The City Council of Cartagena continues betting on the School Sports Program for the 2019/2020 academic year.
More than 12,000 students from 70 local schools will benefit from activities in their schools.
This offer is jointly developed by the City Council of Cartagena and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The municipality of Cartagena has 300 sports schools for children and 150 for adults.
In addition, there are 7,000 places for swimming students and 4,500 for football.
