The certification committee for mobile operators, whose acronym is PTCRB, has agreed at the meeting in Seoul to accept the membership of the UPCT EMITE spin-off company as a manufacturer of 5G test and measurement equipment, which thus becomes one of the only four companies participating in this body dedicated to certifying 5G technology in mobile phones and with a major implementation in the United States.
Established in 1997 by leading wireless operators, PTCRB defines test requirements to verify compliance with global industry standards for wireless cellular devices.
The member operators undertake to guarantee the quality of the device through a rigorous certification process.
Without PTCRB certification, manufacturers run the risk of their devices being blocked in wireless networks.
EMITE has also joined the PTCRB database as a test provider, and has sent a set of 5G OTA RF test cases for validation.
The company, based in Fuente Álamo and employing numerous alumni of the UPCT, expects to complete validation tests before the end of the year with its new H series of compact anechoic cameras to calibrate the 5G capabilities of mobile devices.
