The beaches of La Manga affected by the arrival of dead tunas will remain closed until the sanitary risk disappears (16/09/2019)

The City Council of Cartagena keeps the beaches of La Manga closed that, since this weekend, have been affected by the arrival of dead tuna copies on the shore, and that from the Autonomous Community Health Department are proceeding to remove.

As noted by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the City Council has proceeded to signal the affected beaches with red flags, which prevent bathing and marking them, recommending that the citizens be prudent and avoid approaching or touching dead animals 'and as the situation changes we will be issuing official communications, both City Hall and the Autonomous Community and public bodies, to inform as soon as possible through the media, to which we thank you for your help to reach citizens immediately.'

Remember that these tunas are not suitable for consumption, since in all likelihood they have high levels of histamine and may also contain other contaminants, since they may have been dead for several days at sea.

Thus, those who find these fish should notify the authorities to proceed with their withdrawal.
