All the educational centers of the municipality of Cartagena have opened today, Monday, September 16, their doors normally after the cold storm that hit Cartagena last Thursday and Friday.
During these three days the staff of the Department of Education, supported by other municipal services and the companies that are responsible for maintenance in schools, have worked tirelessly to ensure that classes could resume safely.
The Councilor for Education, Irene Ruiz, has been on Monday morning accompanying the students at the entrance to the Los Urrutias school, and has wanted to send a message of tranquility to the students' mothers and fathers.
“Both this center and the rest of the municipality are in good condition and this allows us to resume classes normally.
We will continue working to correct all small things that we have not yet been able to fix and between today and tomorrow everything we have detected will be solved, ”said the mayor.
On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 September, the janitors and staff of the Department visited all the centers to detect breakdowns, water accesses and supervise the cleaning and bilge work.
In fact, most of the problems that have been recorded in schools are flooding of courtyards, woodland falls and water leaks, which have been resolved over the weekend.
The most complicated situations were detected in the schools La Rambla de La Aljorra and San Fulgencio de Pozo Estrecho, whose courtyards were waterlogged and the bilge pumps have not stopped working in these three days.
In the aforementioned center of La Aljorra, two prefabricated classrooms are still being cleaned, which will be prepared tomorrow to host the classes.
In La Palma a tree fell in the courtyard and sectioned a sector of the power line of the school causing a breakdown that was finally solved on Saturday.
In addition, the section of the CEIP San Gins de la Jara del Estrecho de San Gins continues to have a phase without light in which the operators continue working to solve the fault as soon as possible.
FORM TO DETECT INCIDENTS
In addition, the Department of Education has issued a form for the directors of the centers to collaborate in the detection of any subsequent consequences of the rains.
