The Department of Infrastructure led by Councilwoman María Casajús has since yesterday been removing tons of rocks that had accumulated on the hillside of Cerro de la Concepción and threatened to fall to public roads before a possible expiration of the containment mesh.
The past torrential rains had caused numerous landslides on this hillside, which still continued on Saturday, which led to determine the closure of the street, from its confluence with the Duke Street.
The emergency actions began yesterday Sunday and will continue today Monday, with the aim of eliminating at the moment the danger of expiration of the containment fence.
As explained by the councilwoman María Casajús, once this risk is dissipated, the measures to be taken to consolidate this stretch of del Cerro will be studied, through specialized companies.
While the works of removal of the stones last, the Gisbert street will continue cut, totally for vehicles, and the sidewalk adjacent to the hill, for pedestrians.
Users of the private parking on the street have been authorized to access from Angel Street.
The section where it is taking place is the one between the panoramic elevator and the entrance to the old shelters.
For this reason, the panoramic elevator will also remain closed to the public while the works last.
