The City of Cartagena, through the Service of Fire Fighting, Rescue and Civil Protection, will close the access to the Mediterranean beaches of La Manga del Mar Menor in its municipal district, before the arrival of tunas killed by the storm, from a fattening farm located off the coast.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia has warned of the health risk involved in the consumption of tunas found on some beaches in the Region because of the storm.
According to the counseling, these tunas are not suitable for consumption, since in all likelihood they have high levels of histamine and may also contain other contaminants, since they can take up to three days dead at sea.
Finally, he points out that people who find these or other dead fish should notify the authorities so that they can be properly removed, and avoid other possible Public Health problems.
The Cartagena City Council has decided to close the beaches in the face of this irrigation situation and will inform the regional administration of the specimens coming to the shore.
