As the weather forecasts announced the dawn in the municipality of Cartagena has been intense and complicated, as noted by the Councilor for Public Safety, Juan Pedro Torralba.
The municipal services of Local Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection, Sports and Social Services, have had to deal with numerous incidents, most of them centered on the southern coast of the Mar Menor, where the Algar had accumulated more than 300 liters per square meter, 257 in Playa Honda, 230 in La Puebla, 220 in Los Nietos and 195 in Cabo de Palos.
This has caused that about two o'clock in the morning the evictions of neighbors in Villas Caravaning, Los Nietos and Bahía Bella began.
In Villas Caravaning, a hundred residents have been evicted in buses from the ALSA concessionaire who have been transferred to the Central Sports Pavilion of Cartagena, where the Red Cross has set up bunk beds and blankets and food have been provided.
In Los Nietos, a part of those affected have settled in the home of relatives, while about 15 have been treated at the local school.
Staff of the UME and Firefighters of Cartagena have tried to convince the residents of Bahía Bella, at the mouth of the Rambla de El Albujón, to transfer them to the CAR of Los Narejos, but most of them have refused.
Attempts have also been made several times to evict the four families that remained in La Algamecha Chica, without success, and a Local Police checkpoint has been left there, if necessary, due to the rising waters.
From the fire brigade, many rescuers of trapped drivers in their vehicles have been made at dawn trying to cross flooded areas, despite the recommendations.
